BBC Learning launched Headroom in 2008. Its aim is to promote mental well-being, but also to try and dispel the myths and taboos which still surround talking about the issue. Mental health ranges from anger issues to anxiety, depression, eating disorders, bipolar disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder and self-harming. People across the country are making Video Nation films which address their own issues and the way other people perceive mental illness. Graham Kellett had what he calls a nervous breakdown three years ago, although the official doctor's diagnosis was 'reactive depression'. He was off work for three months and then used the services of West Suffolk Mind in Bury St Edmunds to get better. Graham had felt unable to leave his home in Fornham All Saints most of the time and a trip to the supermarket could be a terrifying ordeal. The recovery process included learning how to cope with some of the basic activities of life again using anxiety management and cognitive behavioural therapy techniques. In his film he talks frankly about what it's like to have a mental illness. He joins a list of celebrities who've taken part in Headroom which includes Griff Rhys Jones and Ruby Wax.
