The town is also the largest in the National Forest area. Funky Facts about Burton...It had the first recorded cricket club in the country! The town is also home to the Claymills Pumping Station (1885) - one of the country's largest remaining Victorian steam operated pumping stations. It probably has the largest number of working steam engines still operating at their original location. It certainly has the oldest known working electrical generator in Britain. Good Things:According to Bad Hair Bear, the manufacture of Marmite is the most famous bit about the town - whereas Jane reckons the Brewing Tradition is Burton's most famous asset. According to Lexi the best thing about Burton-upon-Trent is the river - "it's one thing that always stays pretty." For Matthew, the best thing in Burton is the town centre, and Glowking says the Burton Bridge Brewery is the best thing: "They make their own ale and sell it!!!" Bad Things:....Well they say you either love it or hate it, but Marmite isn't Matthew's mate! Hamee doesn't like it either... Glowking (although admits to loving the beer) says it makes Burton "stink from marmite and hops"; and Kris isn't happy about the 'giant spade in the town centre' but he reckons its a good place to buy cheap music.
