Gamewatch: Williams v Henin
All the action from the semi-final between Venus Williams and Justine Henin

Game-by-game action as defending champion Venus Williams blasts her way into the Wimbledon final with a comprehensive win over Justine Henin.

Williams 6-3 6-2 Henin
Williams powers her way once again past Henin for the game and the match. The defending champion looks set to face sister Serena in an all-Williams final and, on this performance, will provide tough opposition.

Williams 6-3 5-2 Henin
Henin saves face by winning another game and finally producing some of the tennis we know she is capable of. Serving 40-15 up, she actually outhits her opponent, firing a superb forehand volley past the reach of Williams.

Williams 6-3 5-1 Henin
Henin's Wimbledon aspirations look over for another year, as she increasingly falls foul of the player who defeated her 12 months ago. She manages to stretch her opponent to deuce but, just as a revival looks on the cards, Williams cranks up her firepower, producing a massive second serve for the game.

Williams 6-3 4-1 Henin
Such has been the rarity of Henin's return winners that a delightful cross-court backhand brings a roar from the crowd. She follows it up with a ferocious smash and finally stops the rot. A volley into an open court wins her the game, incredibly without the loss of a point.

Williams 6-3 4-0 Henin
Finally Henin manages to get to grips with Williams' serve, courtesy of a double fault and an error from the American. Henin gathers some confidence but it is whittled down by the resilience of Williams who powers a backhand down the line for the game. She has now won 10 out of the last 11 games.

Williams 6-3 3-0 Henin
Errors are beginning to creep even more readily into Henin's game who, under no pressure, hits the second point of the game some two metres wide. Williams capitalises for three break points and she is successful on the third. The worrying thing for the Belgian is that Williams could easily still notch it up a few gears.

Williams 6-3 2-0 Henin
Williams looks in a totally different league to her opponent, towering over her and toying with her across every part of the court. Another game to love.

Williams 6-3 1-0 Henin
Williams shows in this game that her game is not solely about power tennis. The American stretches to her limit to return what Henin must have deemed a definite winner. From there (deuce), she reverts once more to power, to win her seventh game out of the last eight.

First set:
Williams 6-3 Henin
The set started with great promise from both players but it is all looking a bit too easy now for the defending champion. She wins her serve to love, Henin once again hitting the ball wide, and takes the set.

Williams 5-3 Henin
Henin seems to have lost her focus, notching up her fourth double fault already to give Williams two break points. The world number one overhits on both, sending the ball just long, Another break opportunity comes up, though, and for once the trademark Henin backhand falters and goes wide.

Williams 4-3 Henin
The former champion's serve is not at its usual high standard. At present she is averaging less than 40% of first serves in. It leads to a break point for Henin but, when it matters, the serve and volley game kicks in and Williams takes the lead for the first time in the match. The class tennis expected from both players is only coming in fits and starts.

Williams 3-3 Henin
Williams decides to wait for Henin mistakes rather than wholeheartedly attacking, a ploy which appears to work. As a result she gets break point but a rare Williams error creeps in, her backhand from the baseline landing some way down the net. Error number two, while receiving a Henin second serve, levels the scores.

Williams 3-2 Henin
This clash has turned quite suddenly from an early nailbiter to one dominated by Williams. Once again Henin fails to register a point.

Williams 2-2 Henin
Henin's early advantage goes, through a combination of Williams' shot selection and the Belgian's own errors. She fails to record a single point on her service, losing the game with a double fault.

Williams 1-2 Henin
Williams' power tennis is good enough to set her apart from her opponent but only just.

Williams 0-2 Henin
Williams claws her way back from 15-40 to deuce, unleashing one of her trademark forehands to the very back of the court. And she gets a break point when the Belgian clips the ball into the net. She looks to have it wrapped up but somehow Henin gets back an awesome forehand. A few deuces later, the Henin backhand comes to life. A scintillating start to this contest.

Williams 0-1 Henin
Venus Williams surprisingly finds herself a break point down as she steers a forehand into the tram lines. And Henin gets an opening break when Williams makes her second error, hitting a backhand into the net.
