Sir Bobby deserves his Knighthood richly, but why has there been no mention of Ian Botham? Yes, his antics off the field have been publicised, but he encompasses a trait that could never be faulted - a passion to win and make his nation proud. As far as many people are concerned, it is sad that one of sports greatest heroes does not get the recognition he deserves.

I'd like to congratulate Sir Bobby Robson with his knighthood. Despite being Belgian I consider him being one of the last gentleman in sport. What a difference with the way Robert Waseige reacted when the Belgian Press criticised him.

I'm absolutely chuffed to bits for Bobby, he definitely deserves this reward. But what I want to know is - Where's Brian Clough's? Clough is also deserving of a knighthood. I would say he deserves a knighthood more than Alex Ferguson (who deserves his too) because he took Derby and Forest to the European Cup, winning it twice with Forest - on the bounce! and with less resources than was available to Fergie.

Well done to Sir Bobby Robson! Truly most worthy of the knighthood bestowed upon him. It is a pity that his country did not believe in him to the extent of letting him remain as England manager. Congratulations to Sir Bobby Robson on an honour not too early in coming. He may not have won as many trophies as Sir Alex, but in many ways he is everything an Englishman should be: Loyal to his roots, his profession and his colleagues. A patient builder, making the most of the resources available to him. A man whose passion burns bright even near the age of 70. A man who, but for the fate of a post, might well have emulated Sir Alf in 1990.

If I ever had to choose a grandad other than the ones I had, then Sir Bobby would undoubtedly be that man.
