Labuschagne was red-carded by New Zealand referee Paddy O'Brien in Saturday's Test defeat at Twickenham. The start of the punishment will coincide with the beginning of the Super 12 season on 21 February next year. But full-back Werner Greef has been cleared of any wrong-doing after he was cited by French match commissioner Paul Mauriac for a high tackle on Phil Christophers in the same match. Labuschagne was the first Springbok ever to be red-carded at Twickenham, and referee O'Brien had to use all of his considerable experience to keep the lid on a pressure-cooker match. England boss Clive Woodward and members of his coaching team were critical of South Africa's approach after the game, which saw the Springboks win few admirers among a 75,000 capacity crowd. |
