Redpath to retire
Scrum-half Redpath in action against Ireland
Bryan Redpath has won 45 caps for Scotland
Scotland captain Bryan Redpath is to retire from international rugby after next year's World Cup.

The 31-year-old Sale Sharks scrum-half is on target to win his 50th cap during the Six Nations with 45 already to his credit.

"The World Cup will probably be it, I can see that happening," Redpath told Scotland on Sunday.

"There must be a time when you have to call it a day and I don't think I would like to spend the last few matches on the bench.

"I don't want to be seen simply as a back-up player now. I also have three kids under five.

"Internationally, you have three weeks in November, seven weeks in the Six Nations and, all in, it's probably 22 weeks - almost half-a-year.

"My family's happiness is very important to me and, yes, I'm thinking that the World Cup should be the end, at least at international level."
