O'Gara gets number 10 jersey
Ireland fly-half Ronan O'Gara seen in action against the All Blacks during the summer
O'Gara hangs on to the Ireland number 10 jersey
Ronan O'Gara will wear the number 10 jersey when Ireland take on Romania in a friendly at Limerick on Saturday (1330BST).

O'Gara gets the nod ahead of his great Ulster rival David Humphreys with coach Eddie O'Sullivan also bringing Kevin Maggs back into the fray.

In all, there are two changes of personnel and one positional switch from the side that started Ireland's last outing, the second Test against the All Blacks in June.

The pack from that game remains intact with Simon Easterby continuing at blindside after Eric Millar's rib injury saw him opting out on Monday evening.

Renews partnership

The changes are all behind the scrum with Munster's John Kelly moving back to his normal right-wing berth after filling in as an emergency centre against New Zealand.

However, O'Sullivan's worries in midfield are now eased with Maggs and Rob Henderson back to full health.

Maggs broke his arm playing for Bath in a Zurich Premiership match against Leicester last March, but returns to win his 40th cap and renews his centre partnership with Brian O'Driscoll.

The other change in the three-quarters sees Denis Hickie returning to the left wing in place of the injured Geordan Murphy.

Hickie missed the tour to New Zealand as he required surgery for a shoulder problem.

But the biggest talking point is at half-back - a debate which has raged for three years now.

There is, though, a doubt over number eight Anthony Foley, who is still suffering from a rib injury.

However, it was inevitable that O'Gara would keep his place, particularly when the match is being on Munster's home ground at Thomond Park.

Both O'Gara and Ulsterman Humphreys were watched by O'Sullivan during the opening Celtic League games in Wales at the weekend.

Both had a big hand in helping their provinces to victory, but O'Gara was given the verdict to continue alongside his Munster half-back partner Peter Stringer.

Saturday's game sees the start of the busiest international season in the history of Irish rugby.

Ireland will play no fewer than 14 matches, including a three-match tour Down Under next summer.

The Romanian game is a warm-up for the two World Cup qualifying matches against Georgia and Russia at the end of the month.

Ireland: G Dempsey; J Kelly, K Maggs, B O'Driscoll, D Hickie; R O'Gara, P Stringer; R Corrigan, K Wood (capt), J Hayes, G Longwell, M O'Kelly, S Easterby, K Gleeson, A Foley.
Replacements: S Bryne, P Wallace, L Cullen, E Miller or A Quinlan, G Easterby, D Humphreys, R Henderson.
