Wallabies hit by injuries
Matthew Burke in action against France
Matthew Burke has joined the Wallabies injury list
Injuries have forced Australian selectors to name an expanded 26-man squad for the opening Tri Nations Test with New Zealand in Christchurch next month.

Outside-centre Matthew Burke and replacement hooker Brendan Cannon were both hurt during Saturday's 31-25 win over France.

They join hooker Jeremy Paul and number eight Toutai Kefu on the injury list.

Burke injured his shoulder and was replaced at half-time but he is expected to be fit to take on the All Blacks on 13 July.

Cannon damaged medial knee ligaments and has been left out of the squad.

Kefu is expected to recover in time from a broken hand while Paul was rated an outside chance of playing as he recovers from rib cartilage damage.

Prop Ben Darwin (ankle) and winger Ben Tune (knee) have recovered from injury, while utility back Andrew Walker was recalled to the squad after playing for Australia A against France A.

"We've been forced to name a larger squad for this match to cover injuries," said Wallaby coach Eddie Jones on Sunday.

"Matthew Burke (shoulder) looked good this morning but Brendan Cannon is facing a longer period on the sideline with a strained medial so at this stage he's not in the 26."

The team to face the All Blacks will be finalised on 10 July.

Wallaby squad:

Backs: George Gregan (capt), Chris Whitaker, Stephen Larkham, Elton Flatley, Matthew Burke, Wendell Sailor, Mat Rogers, Daniel Herbert, Ben Tune, Chris Latham, Andrew Walker, Stirling Mortlock.
Forwards: Bill Young, Patricio Noriega, Rod Moore, Ben Darwin, Jeremy Paul, Sean Hardman, Nathan Sharpe, Justin Harrison, Daniel Vickerman, Owen Finegan, Matt Cockbain, David Lyons, Toutai Kefu, George Smith.
