Munster are seething over Leicester's ticket plans for the Heineken Cup quarter-final shoot-out on 13 April.

After a decision to stage the game at their Welford Road home rather than Leicester City's Walkers Stadium, the Tigers plan to initially give Munster a meagre 1,000 tickets.

However, the move has incensed Munster who state the rules of the competition in which 25 per cent of available tickets goes to the visiting team.

Welford Road has a near 17,000 capacity, so Munster are officially due just over 4,000 tickets.

It is not the preparation Munster wanted on the run-up to Saturday's Celtic League final against Pontypridd.

But a statement from Leicester Chairman Peter Tom confirmed a different policy for the quarter-final which is a re-run of last season's decider.

''We can confirm that the Heineken Cup quarter-final between Leicester Tigers and Munster will take place at Welford Road.

''Our season ticket holders and members have until 21 February to apply for their tickets and they will be guaranteed priority until this deadline.

''Munster will receive an initial allocation of 1,000 tickets and we will review the situation as the requirements of our members and ERC, Cup Ltd become clear.

''Any remaining tickets will go on general sale at the beginning of March.''

Disappointed

However, Munster Chief Executive Garrett Fitzgerald was quick to point to the rules of the competition.

''The Heineken Cup particpation agreement, signed by all participants, entitles the visiting team to 25 per cent of all tickets categories. End of story,'' he said.

''Munster have advised ERC of this fact and have asked them to bring it to the attention of the host club.''

Munster team manager Jerry Holland was also disappointed at the ticket allocation.

''To say I am disappointed at this news is putting it mildly'', he said.

''Many of our supporters have already pre-booked their flights and other means of transport.

We have written to Leicester reminding them of the rules ERC spokesman Diarmaid Murphy

''If this is allowed, it will be a terrible blow to everybody.

''This move is effectively going to stop them getting to the match and ERC must see to it that they receive their rightful allocation.''

Diarmaid Murphy, the ERC media manager, confirmed that all particpating teams have signed the agreements.

''Visiting teams are entitled to 25 per cent of tickets, and accordingly, we've written to Leicester reminding them of this.

''We will see where it goes from there.''
