| Saturday, 30 November, 2002, 17:56 GMT Quins squeeze out Sarries ![]() Ex-Saracen Tony Diprose tangles with Richard Hill Harlequins 36-32 Saracens Harlequins leapfrogged Saracens into seventh place in the Zurich Premiership with a fifth successive victory at The Stoop. The home side were outscored four tries to three but edged home thanks to 21 points from the boot of fly-half Paul Burke. Saracens counterpart Andy Goode crossed twice in the second half in a 22-point personal haul as the visitors salvaged two bonus points. Burke out-kicked Goode initially, converting two penalties to one, but it was Saracens who grabbed the first try of the afternoon.
A clever chip by in-form hooker Matt Cairns set up the score, wing Richard Haughton profiting from a lucky bounce, and Goode converting. But Harlequins bounced back in a similar fashion just before the break, England centre Will Greenwood chipping the ball down the right wing for Tani Fuga to score. Burke converted but with Goode landing a 40th-minute penalty the sides were locked at 13-13 at half-time. Burke then soon added his third penalty before Quins' Nathan Williams snatched an impressive 45th minute try. The Australian full-back caught Saracen's defence napping after a powerful run from Andre Vos, Burke converting to create a 10-point cushion.
Goode converted before also converting Thomas Castaignede's try and his own injury-time score. But it was another soft try and Burke's consistent kicking which was Saracens' undoing. Winger Matt Moore snatched a shocking wayward pass from scrum-half Morgan Williams pass to score after 56 minutes. Burke converted and added an 80th-minute penalty to seal victory.
