Deane called up for Irish tour
Sale's Mel Deane iscaled in to replace Shane Horgan
Sale's Mel Deane is New Zealand bound with Ireland
Sale centre Mel Deane has been called up to the Ireland's summer tour party to New Zealand.

London-born Deane is brought into the 26-man squad to fill the void left by Shane Horgan.

Deane has had a tremendous season with the Manchester club who are fancied to take Zurich Premiership play-off honours this season.

The former Connacht and Richmond star moved to England two seasons ago and made his debut for Sale against Bath in 2000.

Stand-by

While Deane, a former Ireland A player, is primarily a centre, he could be used as a utility back.

Originally, Munster's Jason Holland was tipped to fill the vacancy.

However, he is due to get married on 8 June in New Zealand.

However, the centre will remain on stand-by for the tour as he will be remaining in the country of his birth following his wedding.
