We thought we were invincible going into last year's Challenge Cup fourth-round tie with Leeds Rhinos. We had just beaten the Newcastle Knights to win the World Club Challenge and the whole team was on a high. But everyone knows what happened next. Leeds played brilliantly and we were dumped out of the competition.
This year is a totally different scenario. Saturday's game at Warrington is our first competitive match since the Super League Grand Final defeat to St Helens and everyone is keen to make amends. We are all training hard in an effort to make sure we are picked but no one is yet sure what the team is going to be. Personally, I don't like going to Wilderspool. It is just not a nice place to go if you are in the visiting team. There is not much space in the changing rooms and the fans are right on top of you. Why do you think it is known as The Zoo?
I've even seen him kick five drop-goals in a game. But we have got so much quality in our squad that we our virtually unstoppable if everyone plays to their ability. There is fresh speculation surrounding my brother, Henry. No surprise there. Now Widnes have revealed they would like to sign him. Well, I've got news for the Vikings. They are going to have to join the queue like everyone else because there are plenty of clubs out there who would love to get their hands on Henry. He is a great athlete, still only 28 and was one of the top three rugby league players in the world before he moved to union.
No wonder Widnes want him. But he is focused on playing for Gloucester and England, shrugging off all the criticism that comes his way. He got a load of flak after the Heineken Cup defeat by Munster but was sensational the following week against Saracens. He knows he is an easy target, but he loves embarrassing people who write him off. Keep putting obstacles in his way and he will keep on jumping them. And if he ever does end up coming back to league, Bradford have got first choice anyway! | Top Rugby League stories now: Links to more Rugby League stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
