British skier Alain Baxter may turn his back on the Winter Olympics.

The Scottish star is unhappy at the International Olympic Committee's handling of his case after he failed a drugs test and was forced to hand back his bronze medal.

He told BBC Sport Online he had yet to totally make up his mind about the 2006 Games in Turin, in Italy.

Baxter said: "If I make that decision now I'm only going to rock the boat.

"But at the moment I don't really care much for the Olympics.

"The World Cup is the main goal."

Baxter lost his appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to keep the bronze he won when he finished third in the men's slalom at Salt Lake City in February - Britain's first ever ski medal.

However in its judgement CAS said the 28-year-old was a "sincere and honest man who did not gain a competitive advantage" in the race.

CAS has also urged the IOC to change its rules on the drug in question, lev-methamphetamine.

Baxter said: "CAS cleared my name but didn't give me my medal back. It's a strange decision.

"It's like clearing me but not clearing me. I don't understand it."

Baxter would have to get special permission from the British Olympic Association to compete in another Games because a BOA by-law bans athletes from entering after failing a dope test.

Last week the BOA said he had grounds to appeal against their ban as there were "significant mitigating circumstances".
