Crockard seventh in Bulgaria
Newtownards rider Gordon Crockard was runner-up in last year's World Championship
Gordon Crockard was second in Austria
Gordon Crockard had to settle for seventh place in Sunday's latest round of the World 250cc Motocross Championship in Bulgaria.

World champion Mickael Pichon continued his domination of this year's series by winning his fourth consecutive race.

In all, the Frenchman has won six of this year's seven races.

Sunday's race took place in sweltering conditions.

Pichon led at the end of lap one from compatriot Fred Bolley and Andrew McFarlane and he had nine seconds to spare at the finish.

Bolley took second with New Zealander Joshua Coppins in third and McFarlane fourth.

Turkington illness

Crockard's performance means he is in seventh place in this year's championship.

The KTM rider's best finish of the year was his second position in the previous round in Austria.

Meanwhile, Northern Ireland riders Adrian Coates and Marty Nutt made little impression at the British Superbike meeting in Northamptonshire.

Coates, riding his Padgetts Suzuki, failed to finish his opening race and was 16th place in his second outing.

His team-mate Nutt was 20th in the opener and 15th in the second race.

Michael Rutter won both races.

Meanwhile, illness forced Portadown driver Colin Turkington to pull out of Sunday's round of the British Touring Car Championship at Mondello Park.

The Northern Ireland man had qualified second for the feature race and fourth for the sprint event.

Frenchman Yvan Muller won the main race while Matt Neal took the sprint.
