Funny old round-up
QPR manager Ian Holloway
BBC Sport Online picks out some of the quirky, offbeat or plain daft stories doing the rounds.

You talking to me?

QPR manager Ian Holloway was confronted by a taxi driver who demanded an explanation for the FA Cup defeat by Vauxhall Motors.

Rangers fan Joe Hylton went to see Holloway at the club's training ground and the pair had a heated argument.

Hylton told The Sun: "I saw chief executive David Davies and he told me if I waited I could see Ian Holloway.

"In Holloway's office there was a frank exchange of views and a lot of effing and blinding.

"But he listened to what I had to say and didn't make excuses."

Hardly surprising, as anybody who has seen the classic Robert De Niro film will know, it's best not to upset a taxi driver with a grudge.

One I made earlier

Want to buy your favourite player for a fiver?

Well in Greater Manchester you can. Okay, so it's just a cardboard cut-out and David Beckham has already been auctioned off.

But fundraisers are hoping to make more money for charity by selling off cut-outs of top players such as David Seaman, Teddy Sheringham and Sol Campbell.

The sale is being held in aid of Francis House Children's Hospice, Guide Dogs for the Blind and the Shelley Brocklehurst Appeal for Christies.

Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman
Seaman has been as static as his cut-out at times this season
Dawn Dimelow, of Droylsden District Assembly office, said: "Most people have been buying them as gifts for their children.

"But there have also been a few female admirers wanting cut-outs of their football heartthrobs.

"The starting price for each player is 5 but we will be selling to the highest bidders."

Apparently QPR boss Holloway bought 11 players and pitted them against the first team in a training match. The cut-outs won 2-0!

From rink to ring

Disgraced former ice skater Tonya Harding is to become a professional boxer.

Harding was banned from skating after her ex-husband hired some thugs to beat up Olympic team rival Nancy Kerrigan in 1994.

And now it is her who will be delivering the beatings, thankfully in a legal setting.

The 32-year-old said: "It is my goal to be a future undisputed bantamweight champion."

She begins the pursuit of her dream on 22 February, when she fights on the undercard to Mike Tyson's next bout.

She should be able to provide the right blend of silk and steel - possibly performing a double axel before landing the knockout punch.
