| Gerrard's scorcher BBC Sport Online analyses all the goals from England's 5-1 victory over Germany in the Olympic Stadium in Munich. Click below for a graphic of the action: England took a crucial 2-1 lead on the stroke of half-time thanks to Steven Gerrard's ferocious 30-yard strike. The move started when David Beckham was brought down on the right of the box. His free-kick was cleared by the German defence, but the ball found its way back to the England captain. With two German defenders surrounding him, Beckham found Rio Ferdinand with a left-foot cross on the edge of the box. The Leeds United defender showed excellent awareness when he nodded the ball into the path of Gerrard, some 30-yards out from Oliver Kahn's goal. With one touch, Gerrard controlled the ball before driving an unstoppable shot through a melee of players into the bottom right of Kahn's goal. |
