| Uefa cuts O'Neill ban ![]() Celtic boss Martin O'Neill was banished to the stand Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has had his Uefa touchline ban reduced to just one game after a personal appeal in Switzerland. O'Neill travelled to Uefa's headquarters in Nyon to plead his case against a two-game punishment handed out by European football's governing body. O'Neill was sent to the stand on a charge of unsporting behaviour by French referee Claude Columbo during Celtic's third round, first leg win over Celta Vigo. The Parkhead club launched an appeal before the second leg, allowing O'Neill to be present in the dug-out for the game in Spain. The suspension will leave him in the stands for the forthcoming Uefa Cup fourth round first leg game against Stuttgart at Celtic Park on 20 February. O'Neill, who was also fined 4,510, is no stranger to Uefa suspensions. He served a one-game ban for comments made to German referee Helmut Krug during the Champions League clash with Juventus in Turin in September 2001. | See also: 10 Dec 02 | Uefa Cup 05 Dec 02 | Uefa Cup 28 Nov 02 | Uefa Cup Top Uefa Cup stories now: Links to more Uefa Cup stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
