Torpey blow for Iron
Scunthorpe United's promotion push has been dealt a major blow with the news that key striker Steve Torpey is set to miss the rest of the season.

Thirty-two-year-old Torpey, who has scored 15 goals this season, has been struggling to shake of a thigh injury sustained just under a month ago.

Scans have revealed a torn muscle and Iron boss Brian Laws said: "It's what we feared most.

"The specialist has indicated he will be lucky to play again this season. It is a devastating blow for Scunthorpe United.

"There is no money available to go out and bring in new players, and we will have to go with what we've got.

"If money does become available I will be looking, but there are not too many players around in the Steve Torpey mould," Laws told his club's website.
