Simpson set for new deal
Paul Simpson has led Rochdale into the fifth round of the FA Cup
Simpson looks set to stay on at Spotland

Rochdale player-manager Paul Simpson has been offered a new deal to continue as Spotland boss.

Simpson, 36, took over last summer following the departure of John Hollins.

The former Manchester City, Oxford, Wolves and Blackpool winger reaches the end of his current deal this summer.

Dale are off the Third Division play-off pace but Simpson has taken the club into the fifth round of the FA Cup for only the second time in their history.

Simpson hopes to reach an agreement to carry on the job he has started.

"It's a big bonus for me. I'm delighted. Nothing has been finalised yet, but I can't see a problem with anything," said Simpson.

"I've been told that as long as my financial demands aren't too excessive then I'll be the manager of Rochdale and that's something I want to do.

I won't be making big financial demands, so that's not an issue. I just want to continue, so I cannot see any problems," he told the club's website.
