Veron admits debut disaster
Juan Sebastian Veron
Veron's season was far from memorable
Argentine midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron has conceded his first year with Manchester United was a disaster.

Veron said his debut season at Old Trafford was a "catastrophe".

Bought for 28.1m from Lazio, Veron failed to find his top form with the Red Devils and the reigning Premiership champions were unable to defend their crown.

After a trophyless season domestically and in the Champions League, Veron's national side then crashed out of the World Cup in the first round.

"Both things happened one after the other - and that makes last season a catastrophe," Veron told The Sun newspaper. "I would like a bit more consistency. I want to start the way I played for the first 10 games of last season - then keep going for the whole year."

Despite Veron's aims for a better season, rumours still persist he is on his way out of the club.

Former club Lazio said last week they were willing to re-sign Veron in an exchange involving Argentine striker Hernan Crespo.

Veron, meanwhile, welcomed the arrival of 30m defender Rio Ferdinand to the club.

"Rio has class and ability beyond his years. Football seems to be a stroll for him," he said.
