Fulham will learn on Friday whether Fifa are to penalise them for their conduct in Steve Marlet's �11.5m transfer from French champions Lyon.

A meeting of the Players' Status Committee, had been scheduled to give its ruling on Wednesday, but the Fifa body will now meet on Friday.

The committee could place an embargo on Fulham over its failure to pay an instalment of �2.5m pounds to Lyon by the 22 January deadline set by Fifa.

"If a ban is decided upon, Fifa will inform the Football Association and it is up to them to make sure the club follow the decision," said a Fifa spokseman.

Fulham withheld the payments because they were unhappy with the role Barcelona-based agents Sebastien and Pascal Boisseau played in the transfer.

Marlet joined Fulham in August 2001
