The Addicks had agreed a 2.3m fee with Japanese club Shimizu S-Pulse for the Brazilian-born midfielder. But their hopes of signing him were scuppered after the Home Office's refusal to grant the player a work permit. And they are now hoping to sign Reuser on a three-month loan deal with a view to a permanent move after agreeing a deal with the Tractor Boys. Ipswich paid Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem 1m for the 27-year-old in 2000 but, following relegation to the Nationwide, need to reduce their wage bill. They recently accepted a 4.5m offer for Matt Holland but the player opted against joining Graham Taylor's team. Reuser will play in Ipswich's Uefa Cup tie against Avenir Beggen on Thursday in an attempt to prove his fitness after a knee injury. |
