Ternent targets defensive duo
Burnley manager Stan Ternent is hoping to sign French defender Drissa Diallo and goalkeeper Marlon Beresford on a permanent basis.

The duo are both approaching the end of monthly contracts and Ternent is keen to keep them at Turf Moor.

"I'll be hoping to sort both Drissa and Marlon out this week," Ternent told the club's website.

"I would obviously prefer to sign them both, but there are financial implications.

"I'll have a chat to the chairman about things and if they can, the chairman and the board will back me.

"If they can't it will be monthly contracts again, but I would like to get them both settled in as Burnley players because if I don't, somebody else might.

"That would be pouring vinegar on the wound."

Diallo, 30, joined the Clarets from Belgian club Mechelen at the start of January.

While former Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday keeper Beresford started a third spell at Turf Moor last September.

But he has so far been unable to agree terms on a long-term contract.
