Cowdenbeath's recent improvement in form has won player-boss Keith Wright the Bell's Second Division manager of the month award for January.

The Blue Brazil have now gone four league games without defeat and lifted themselves off the bottom with a 1-1 draw away to Airdrie United on Saturday.

But the highlight of January was their amazing 7-5 win away to promotion-seeking Brechin City.

Bell's sponsorship manager Iain Macdonald said: "Keith Wright was singled out by the judges for a number of reasons.

"For one, Cowdenbeath haven't lost one game in January and the Club's 7-5 victory against Brechin City, a record score for the second division, was certainly impressive."

Wright also believes he has unearthed a gem in 17-year-old striker Liam Buchanan.

Buchanan scored the winner away to Berwick Rangers then returned to the youth team to score in his eleventh consecutive game for Cowden's youths.

Former Dundee, Hibernian and Raith Rovers striker Wright took over at Central Park in March after the sacking of Gary Kirk and led Cowden to safety in their battle against relegation.
