| Tuesday, 21 January, 2003, 12:05 GMT Hutch poised for Scots return ![]() Don Hutchison (right) is back playing with his club West Ham United forward Don Hutchison is set to make his return to international football in Scotland's friendly with Republic of Ireland in February. Hutchison spent months on the sidelines with a serious cruciate ligament injury. But Berti Vogts wants him to partner Stevie Crawford in the Euro 2004 qualifier against Iceland in place of the suspended Steven Thompson. The Scotland boss is now hoping Hutchison will be given the chance to play in Sunday's fourth-round FA Cup tie against Manchester United.
"Thompson is suspended for the European Championship game against Iceland and I am looking for a striker to play alongside Crawford. "I know that Neil McCann or Kevin Kyle can do it, but Hutchison is the most experienced man for the job and I hope I can see him for at least 20 minutes against United at the weekend. "If he comes through that fit and well then there is a good chance for him." Vogts also has the opportunity of issuing recalls to Derby County midfielder Craig Burley and Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Neil Sullivan. Both players have returned to fitness following long spells out injured. |
