| Chad call brothers to arms ![]() Chad coach Akono wants the Bouldoum brothers Chad's Cameroonian coach Jean-Paul Akono is desperate to reinforce his team with two brothers who play in France. The coach has included 21 year old defender Kadadoum Boldoum and his 20 year old brother Dingham-Roh who is a winger, in a provisional 27-man squad. The Boldoum brothers play for the same team, FC Valence in the French second division.
Although the pair are not regulars for their club, coach Akono believes they will offer him more options in the African Nations Cup qualifier against Algeria on Friday But there is still some persuasion to be done by the coach if the talented but inexperienced brothers are to make their international debuts in Algiers They have been officially invited but nothing has been heard from them and there are suggestions that the invitations will be turned down. Coach Akono admits he has not seen the brothers play, and doubts their interst in playing for Chad. Akono said: "I heard they are not interested playing for Chad, but I need them because at least they have some experience which the team can benefit from. "I've never seen them play but from my investigation they are good players." Akono's squad comprises of eleven foreign-based players from France, Italy and four from Cameroon. Ironically inexperience seems to be the bane of the Chadian team and yet the age of the two new inclusions suggests they may not fill that void. But coach Akono is adamant that if the brothers do accept the invitation, his side will be the better for it. Chad have never reached the finals of the Nations Cup, but the country is pulling resources together to qualify for Tunisia in 2004. | Top Cup of Nations stories now: Links to more Cup of Nations stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
