| SA stick with experience ![]() Mashaba is taking no chances with his selection New South Africa coach Shakes Mashaba has selected an experienced line-up for Bafana Bafana's African Nations Cup qualifier in the Ivory Coast next weekend. Back into the side comes Shaun Bartlett, who has not played an official game since he was injured at the last Nations Cup finals in Mali. Mashaba has also called up veteran captain Lucas Radebe, despite speculation he might miss the game because Leeds United did not want him to be over-extended this early into the new premier league season. Mashaba is insisting he has his best possible team available and says there will be no exceptions. "This is an international weekend on the new calendar and Fifa have done it that way to make sure we are able to have our best team available," he said when naming his team.
There is also no place for any uncapped players, with the most inexperienced of the bunch being the 29-year-old Gary McNab, of Soweto club Moroka Swallows. The left-back, who was born in Scotland, made his debut last weekend when South Africa hammered Swaziland 4-1 in the Cosafa Cup semi-finals. Squad: Goalkeepers: Andre Arendse (Santos), Brian Baloyi (Kaizer Chiefs) |
