Coly moves to England
Ferdinand Coly is set for a switch to Birmingham
Coly is set for a switch to Birmingham
English club Birmingham City have signed Lens defender Ferdinand Coly on a six-month loan deal.

The Senegal international will join the club on 1 January and have the option of making Coly's move permanent move at the end of the season if they retain Premiership status.

The 29-year-old right-back, who played for Senegal in the 2002 World Cup finals, joins international team-mate Aliou Cisse at St Andrews.

Paris St Germain right-back Didier Domi is likely to follow Coly to the club in a similar deal.

Blues boss Steve Bruce has reached agreement with the French side and will attempt to speak to the player to agree terms soon.

"We hope he is interested in coming to Birmingham," Bruce said. "We expect him over here next week for talks and we will see what he has to say.

"Again, the basis of the deal is an initial loan period with a view to a permanent signing.

"We do need to bring in two or three bodies to strengthen our squad for the second half of the season and in defence we have been down to the bare bones."
