West Ham have joined the chase for Lee Bowyer, who has turned down Birmingham City. The Londoners are apparently offering the Leeds midfielder a short-term deal worth �1m. (The Sun)

Chelsea have turned down an �8m bid for striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink from Barcelona. Chelsea are �92m in debt but will only consider selling if the bid is upped substantially. (Daily Express)

Arsene Wenger has apparently given Francis Jeffers a four-month deadline to prove that he belongs with the champions. The "fox in the box" cost �10m but has struggled with injuries and form. (The Star)

Howard Wilkinson wants to take Ipswich star Matt Holland to Sunderland. Wilkinson wants to send Marcus Stewart back to Portman Road, with Holland going the other way. (Daily Mirror)

Arsene Wenger has issued a hands-off warning to other clubs over promising defender Matthew Upson. A number of clubs, including Newcastle and West Ham, are reported to be after the player. (The Sun)
