In a thrilling match at Canterbury, the Dragons held off Kent to win by four runs after a nerve-wracking final over.

The win on the penultimate week of the one-day season put Glamorgan clear of title rivals Worcestershire, handing the Welsh county their first major one-day trophy since 1993.

"We've had some tough times this year, especially at the start," Croft said.

"But to come through and show the spirit, passion and determination we did makes me very proud to be part of it."

Croft was leading Glamorgan because regular skipper Steve James was sidelined by a broken finger.

"All the guys helped me out there today, everybody was offering little bits of advice and we all stuck to the task.

"Steve has done a magnificent job this year, he's been magnificent as a captain and as a player.

"Unfortunately he had to miss out because of injury and somebody had to step up, but it shows the tremendous strength in our squad."

James admitted it had been harder to watch from the pavilion than play, and also praised the character of his team.

"It was very disappointing to miss out and watching was probably the most nerve-wracking afternoon of my life.

"When we've needed guys to stick up their hands and take responsibility they have done, and come up with match-winning performances.
