The likely NatWest series matches are South Africa v Zimbabwe (5 July, 2003) and Australia v Bangladesh (2005). The ground hosted the NatWest game between Australia and Pakistan last year, plus the Australia v New Zealand match in the 1999 World Cup. The last international cricket played there was the Wales v England one-day game last summer, a fixture that will be repeated on 14 June next year. Glamorgan Chief Executive Mike Fatkin said: "This is important news for Glamorgan, and for cricket in Wales, as it provides us with the security of having confirmed international cricket at Sophia Gardens. "We will be able to plan more effectively for the future in terms of improving the infrastructure of the ground, and we will use these two events as a launching pad to bid for the staging of bigger games in Wales in the future. "In addition to these matches, we are hosting another Wales versus England one-day game on 14 June next year, a fixture we are keen to make a regular feature of our domestic cricket calendar." | Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Glamorgan stories now: Links to more Glamorgan stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
