Spinners hustle through Gloucs
Jason Brown
Jason Brown's spin was effective on Friday
County Championship D2, Northampton, day three: Northamptonshire 592-8 dec. beat Gloucestershire 299 and 234 by an innings and 59 runs

Northamptonshire 20pts, Gloucestershire 4pts

Northamptonshire's fine late season form continued as they closed out victory with a day to spare against a Gloucestershire team who have forgotten the art of winning.

Spinners Jason Brown, Monty Panesar and Rob White took eight of the wickets to fall in the second innings after Gloucestershire were forced to follow on.

The match finished just before stumps with White, who had hit 277 on the first day, claiming the last wicket by dismissing Jon Lewis for 13.

The day began with Craig Spearman on 64 not out and Matt Windows 53 not out in Gloucestershire's score of 149 for two.

Spearman reached his century but was bowled by Brown for 107, while Windows finished on 89.

Spearman's dismissal saw Gloucestershire slump from 231 for two to 299 all out with the middle order blown away by spin.

In the second innings, Spearman, Windows and Alex Gidman all recorded half centuries, but there was no other resistance from Gloucestershire's batsmen.

Brown and Panesar each took seven wickets in the match.
