England Women break duck
Charlotte Edwards batting against India
Charlotte Edwards top scored for England
One-day match, Lincoln: England Women 208-4 (50 overs) beat India 207 (50 overs) by one run

Sarah Collyer kept her nerve to take a wicket with the final ball of the game as England finally broke their duck.

Collyer bowled Jhulan Goswami to end a run of five successive defeats for Clare Connor's side.

Charlotte Edwards top scored with 79 not out for England earlier in the day, but India were on course to reach their target while Mithali Raj was at the crease.

We had to play with some pride today because we've under-performed out here

She hit 12 fours in making 98 from 126 balls but was run out in the 48th over with her team just eight runs short of their target and the last three wickets followed in a thrilling climax.

The two sides will now meet again in the 3rd/4th place play-off, with New Zealand taking on Australia in the final.

England were given a sound start by Collyer and Kathryn Leng after Indian skipper Anjum Chopra won the toss and put them in.

They shared a stand of 66 before Collyer was stumped off Neetu David for 33 and Leng was run out for 22 three overs later.

But Edwards received capable support from Arran Thompson in a fourth wicket partnership of 98 in 15 overs to see the total past 200.

Thompson (38) became Sulakshana Naik's second stumping victim, from the bowling of Mamta Kanojia, but Edwards collected 10 fours as she survived to the end of the innings.

India lost an early wicket in reply as Dhar Rumeli was caught by Leng off Lucy Pearson, the first of four ducks in their innings.

But Raj and Hemlata Kala revived them by adding 92 for the fifth wicket before Kala was run out by Laura Newton for 38.

A combination of Pearson and Collyer finally accounted for Raj and Connor struck ion the next over to bowl Amita Sharma for nought.

Kanojia was run out off the first ball of the last over and Indian could only muster a single from the next four.

It left Goswami to try and score two from the last delivery but she missed an attempted slog and Collyer's aim was true.
