Jones on Woods alert

Woods (left) comes face-to-face with Jones
Roy Jones has vowed not to take Sheffield's Clinton Woods lightly when they clash in Portland, Oregon, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

"Any time you underestimate anyone who has been a fighter you are messing up, so when I enter the ring I always try and make sure I am 100%," said Jones, the undisputed world light-heavyweight champion.

"This guy I'm fighting is supposed to be a nobody but I know better and I'll be fully focused.

"God gave me my talent and if I were not to give it my all every time I fight, it would be a sin."

Even at 33, Jones is still widely acclaimed as the best pound-for-pound boxer on the planet.

He has won world titles at three different weights and has beaten top-notch performers such as Bernard Hopkins, James Toney and Mike McCallum.

Woods is determined to give Jones a hard fight
Woods, three years younger, claimed the British, Commonwealth and European titles when beating Crawford Ashley in eight rounds back in 1999.

The durability and great heart he showed to overcome some early problems on that night will be much needed again now.

"It's going to be a very, very tough fight," said Woods.

"I know what I'm getting into. I'm going to take big shots, I know I am.

"But I have prepared as well as possible and I'm determined to give it a go.

"I've earned this chance the hard way and owe it to myself to go in there fighting."
