Now for the All Blacks
News image

We've got to be glad of the victory over Canada but we didn't play at the level or the intensity that we did last week.

It was difficult for us to do that against Canada because they are a very tough, streetwise team.

We know and respect what their players are capable of as we face several of them week-in, week-out in Welsh club competition.

Playing against New Zealand is the pinnacle of any player's career

Although we got the victory I think that, overall, we'll probably be disappointed that we didn't play at the level we wanted.

We just need to try and work hard in training this week and see if we can rekindle a bit of the excitement we had when we played against the Fijians and the Romanians.

Scott Quinnell will be a huge loss to Wales, having been an integral part of the team for nearly a decade.

He has been a great servant to the game and deserved every bit of the ovation he was given by the crowd.

We understand his reasons for leaving the international scene and the whole team wish him well.

But I'm not going to be taking the Wales captaincy for granted now just because Scott has gone!

I won't even know if I'm in the side to face New Zealand next week until Steve Hansen lets us all know what the team will be.

But I certainly hope I am!

Playing against New Zealand is the pinnacle of any player's career and we're all looking forward to testing ourselves against them.

The All Blacks are probably the most recognisable rugby team in the world and one of the most difficult to beat.

We'll have to be at the top of our game if we're going to give a good account of ourselves.

The excitement should be back, but we know we've got to play with passion, pace and bravery.

Wales play four Tests against Romania, Fiji, Canada and New Zealand
