O'Sullivan conveyed her plan to Athletics Ireland and the Cobh athlete was immediately pre-selected for both championships. The World Indoors will take place in Birmingham from 14-16 March with the cross country event a fortnight later in Lausanne. The Olympic silver medallist, who is currently training in Melbourne, plans to run the 3000m in Birmingham. Over the same distance, she was narrowly beaten into second place by Romanian Gabriela Szabo at the 1997 World Indoors in Paris. New York disappointment O'Sullivan won double gold at the 1998 World Cross Country Championships in Morocco. At this year's World Cross Country in Dublin, three months after giving birth to her second daughter, she led the Irish team to the bronze medal by finishing seventh in the individual short course race. In the summer, she took silver medals in the 5000m and 10,000m at the European Championships which was followed by a world best of 51 minutes for 10 miles on the road. Her competitive year ended on something of a disappointing note when she could only manage 12th in the New York Marathon. | See also: 04 Nov 02 | Athletics 06 Oct 02 | Athletics 10 Aug 02 | European Athletics Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Athletics stories now: Links to more Athletics stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
