| Monday, 17 February, 2003, 11:56 GMT Lewis-Francis eyes first win Mark Lewis-Francis has vowed to bounce back from his disappointing start to the season in front of his home crowd in Birmingham on Friday.
The sprinter will be racing at the Norwich Union Grand Prix, the third Energizer EuroSeries meeting of the year. Lewis-Francis, a leading contender for the World Indoor title, has yet to claim a 60m win this year. The 20-year-old finished a distant sixth to the American Coby Miller at the opening Energizer EuroSeries meeting in Ghent. "I was obviously disappointed in Ghent and maybe a bit tired going into the race," said Lewis-Francis. "The important thing is I know I can run much faster than that. "One slightly under-par run does not affect my overall game plan for the season, and the aim now is to get my head down for the Grand Prix and Trials. "You'll see a different Mark Lewis-Francis in Birmingham." Lewis-Francis will return to Birmingham a week later for the World Trials, the selection meeting for the British World Indoor Championship team. |
