Montgomery eyes new record
Tim Montgomery celebrates his world record run
Montgomery says he needs to more consistent
World record holder Tim Montgomery says he is confident of going even faster over 100m in 2003.

"I really feel the world record will be broken next year," said the American, who is also the boyfriend of female sprinter Marion Jones.

"I can see the improvement from what I have done and where I have been at this time last year."

Montgomery clocked 9.78 seconds at the IAAF grand prix final in Paris on 14 September to eclipse Maurice Greene's world record.

"I have been waiting for the day when I could show I was the fastest," added Montgomery. "Now I have got to come back out and do it much better."

Tim Montgomerie's new 100m world record stands at 9.78s
