Rae delighted with new doubles partner

Jocelyn Rae says her friendship with Melanie South played a part in helping the pair progress into the second round of the women's doubles at Wimbledon.

The 18-year-old from Arnold, Nottingham teamed up with fellow Brit South to see off Ukranian sisters Kateryna and Alona Bondarenko 6-1 7-6 (7-4) on Wednesday.

Rae told East Midlands Today: "I really enjoy playing with Mel. We get on really well off court and that helped."

The pair will play their second-round match on Friday.

Rae added: "We had fun out there and just went in not expecting too much but wanting to put our best game on the court and I think we did that.

"The first set we dominated, the second set we got off to a bit of a shaky start but we managed to pull it back together."
