BRITISH GAS SCOTTISH SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS Venue: Glasgow Dates: 25 to 28 June
Adlington took 400 gold in Beijing but Jackson beat her in Sheffield
Joanne Jackson aims to take on rival Rebecca Adlington over two distances in August's World Championships in Rome.
Jackson beat Olympic gold medallist Adlington in the 400m freestyle at the British Championships, setting a new world record in the process.
But she will only compete over 800m in the final world trials, the Scottish Championships this week.
"My aim is to qualify for the 800 as well so I can give it a good go in Rome," she told BBC Radio 5 Live.
The two look set to go head-to-head over the longer distance on Friday night in Glasgow, with Jackson admitting the distance is a little long for her.
Adlington has already secured her place in the 800m for the World Championships but - after her defeat by Jackson in Sheffield - must win on Saturday to secure a 400m place.
She also looks likely to race in the 200m on Thursday, seeking to gain a relay place for Rome.
Jackson trains regularly with Adlington and said: "It's great having two people swimming so fast against each other.
"If it wasn't for Becky in Sheffield I don't think I'd have broken the world record."
And Jackson believes someone will have to set a new world record, topping her mark of four minutes 0.66 seconds and breaking the four-minute mark, to win world gold over 400m.
"If you want to win a medal out there you are going to have to break four minutes," she added.
"We don't know how the rest of the world are going to swim but obviously my aim is to break the four-minute mark.
"I was so close to it in Sheffield. Training has been going really well."
