Britain's Anne Keothavong has been ruled out for three weeks because of a persistent hip injury.

The 27-year-old British number three will miss the upcoming Aegon GB Pro-Series in Shrewsbury after scans revealed she needed time to recover.

Keothavong has not played since her first-round exit at the US Open.

"My injury to my hip has been a problem for a while now but I haven't given myself a chance to rest and recover from it properly," said the Londoner.

"I'm really disappointed to have to withdraw from Shrewsbury as I was really looking forward to competing on home soil.

"I'm hoping to be fit in time for the next ITF event in Barnstaple."

Keothavong, currently ranked 145 in the world, suffered the injury during the final of a $25,000 ITF tournament in Tallinn in August.

She has been blighted by injury over the past 18 months and that contributed to her dropping out of the world's top 100.

Most notably, she suffered the second serious knee injury of her career in July 2009 , which kept her sidelined for seven months.

Keothavong was beaten 2-6 6-1 6-1 by Yung-Jan Chan in round one of the US Open and afterwards raised doubts about her future.

"I'm not the player I was two years ago here," she said. "Who knows what's going to happen after this? I'm going to need time to reassess and decide what I want to do."
