 Keothavong will play sixth seed Marion Bartoli in round two |
British number one Anne Keothavong is through to the second round of the Bank of the West Classic after a 7-6 (7-4) 6-1 win over India's Sania Mirza. The 24-year-old Brit had to qualify for the event in Stanford, California but had little trouble in beating last year's runner-up. Keothavong broke her opponent early in the first, eventually winning the set in the tie break. She raced through the second, dropping just one game on her way to victory.  | 606: DEBATE | The win was wrapped up in one hour 19 minutes and Keothavong, ranked 82 in the world, will now face French sixth seed Marion Bartoli in the second round. Wimbledon finalist Serena Williams is the tournament's top seed followed by champion Anna Chakvetadze of Russia.
