Henman represented Great Britain for 10 years in the Davis Cup

Henman told the BBC: "I want to stay healthy and see where that can take me. I've still got a lot of passion.

"If I can play half-decently next year, there's no reason why I can't get back into the top 20 - and if I can play well, I can improve from there.

"I've always wanted to keep my options open (on the Davis Cup) and I've spoken to Jeremy Bates and now John Lloyd."

Henman, 32, retired from Davis Cup tennis in 2005 having served the team for more than 10 years, but he does not rule out a return next year.

"I feel like there's more chance than there was," he told BBC Five Live.

"At the end of 2004 I was tired of that whole scenario, but with Andy Murray coming along and Greg Rusedski still involved, there's a chance."

Henman also confirmed that he would continue to work with his part-time coach Paul Annacone, regardless of whether the American takes a senior post with the Lawn Tennis Association.

"I don't exactly know what will happen between Paul and the LTA, but I do know that he'll continue to work with me," said Henman.

"The beauty of the way it's worked over the last three years is that I don't want a full-time coach and he doesn't want to be full-time on the road.

"There's a lot of flexibility, and I'm sure we'll be able to maintain that.
