Murray wary of recall for Henman

Andy Murray has told the BBC that Great Britain should reconsider their plans to hand Tim Henman a Davis Cup recall.

Henman retired from Davis Cup in 2004 but is considering making a comeback.

"If Tim wants to play I would love him to be in the team but this might be a good time for some of the young guys to step up and be counted," said Murray.

"That's ultimately what's going to have to happen in one or two years' time anyway, so why not start now? I don't see it as a step forward picking Tim."

John Lloyd, Britain's Davis Cup captain, is keen for Henman to play in the home tie against the Netherlands.

He tried to convince the British number two to return for last month's Euro-Africa Zone win over Ukraine but failed.

But the 32-year-old Henman, who is enjoying an upturn in fortunes after a dip in form, has said in the last few days that he is giving serious thought to playing again.

Meanwhile, Murray, who is currently sidelined with a throat infection, has backed the decision to hand Peter Lundgren the job of coaching Britain's Davis Cup team.

He knows when to speak to you and he's a good judge of character

The Swede, who has coached world number ones Roger Federer and Marat Safin, worked with the side prior to the tie against Ukraine.

"He's a very good coach with a lot of knowledge and experience," Murray told BBC Radio Five Live's Jonathan Overend.

"He's the sort of guy that if you have him in your corner it can only be a good thing.

"He's only got good things to say to you and he's not one of these coaches who is in your face and it's his way or the highway.

"He's very laidback. He knows when to speak to you and he's a good judge of character. He is going to be very good for the team."
