Hewitt, who has had several run-ins with Argentine players, will have two minders for the tie on 22-24 September.

"We have held several discussions with Lleyton," said Team Australia media manager John Lindsay.

"And we felt it was necessary to have this kind of arrangement in place to ensure he was part of the team."

Hewitt had expressed concerns about his safety during the match and was only confirmed in captain John Fitzgerald's team last week, despite carrying a knee problem.

"We've also had productive talks with the Argentine federation and are hopeful things will go smoothly," added Lindsay.

Mark Philippoussis, absent from Davis Cup tennis since 2004, Wayne Arthurs and Paul Hanley are also in the team.

Argentina captain Alberto Mancini named world number four David Nalbandian, Jose Acasuso, Juan Ignacio Chela and Agustin Calleri.

It is the same team that played in Argentina's victories over Sweden and Croatia in the previous rounds.

Chela was fined for spitting at Hewitt at the Australian Open last year, while the Australian also had a verbal spat with Guillermo Coria during an ill-tempered Davis Cup singles rubber in Sydney last July.

"The situation has got steadily worse for visiting teams and it takes only one whacker over there to turn things on its head," said former US Open and Wimbledon champion Hewitt in July.

Philippoussis, meanwhile, will play his first Davis Cup tie since Australia's 2004 first-round loss to Sweden in Adelaide.
