Mauresmo sets up Venus showdown
Amelie Mauresmo
World number two Amelie Mauresmo reached her second successive final with a 6-3 7-6 win over Alicia Molik.

The Frenchwoman was in total control of the first set and was not even forced to defend a break point.

Mauresmo was stretched more in the second set but was too strong for her opponent and was able to seal victory in just under an hour and a half.

In the other semi-final, Venus Williams overcame Russian second seed Anastasia Myskina 6-3 3-6 6-3.

In a see-saw battle, the American prevailed late in the deciding set when she scored several key points at the net.

Myskina, ranked two places ahead of Williams at world No. 6, could not match the two-time champion's grit when it counted.

Williams now faces Mauresmo, who was pleased with her semi-final performance.

"I am really happy with my tennis, especially my service and I feel good at the net," she said.

"I started really well by breaking Alicia early. The second set was tougher because Alicia wouldn't let anything go."
