Francesca Schiavone reached the final of the Bali International when second seed Patty Schnyder retired after being overcome by the heat. Fourth-seeded Schiavone, who was given the win at 1-6 6-4, will face top seed Lindsay Davenport in Sunday's final.
Schnyder appeared to be in control and was playing almost faultless tennis until late in the second set when she was treated for the effects of heat.
Davenport went through after beating Chinese seventh seed Li Na 6-2 6-2.
"It was the kind of tennis I wanted to play," said Davenport.

"Even though I missed a few balls, I thought I struck the ball well, better than the other nights."
Schnyder bemoaned her fate after the unfortunate loss.
"I started to feel unwell at the beginning of the second set, after two or three games," said the 26-year-old.
"I was feeling dizzy and couldn't co-ordinate what my legs and what my hands were doing. It was difficult to make any quick movements and my serve went.
"I felt like a beginner out there."
