More scintilating play from Henman books three match points and he converts the first one to reach round four for the first time in his career.

Henman 7-6 (7/3) 6-1 5-2 Blanco
Galo disputes another Henman ace, but his protests are surely only delaying Henman's inexorable charge at Roland Garros.

Blanco holds for the first time since set one. But his cause still looks a lost one against Britain's number one player at the peak of his form.

A routine hold for Henman.

Ace number 15 for Henman stops a run of five games won against serve.

Henman 7-6 (7/3) 6-1 1-1 Blanco
Blanco is still not at ease with his game and is making unforced errors. Henman pounces to break back and the impetus is with the Briton again.

Henman must be careful to keep his concentration. He collapses to 0-40 on his own game and saves two break points before surrendering the lead.

Henman 7-6 (7/3) 6-1 Blanco
But the Briton bounces straight back to break Blanco for the fourth-straight time and wins the set. He will now serve first in the third.

A sumptuous lob sends Henman to 0-30 in Blanco's service game. The Spaniard bellows out in frustration and then mishits to surrender the break.

Henman 7-6 (7/3) 4-0 Blanco
The British number one looks totally in control and only a double fault mars an otherwise routine hold.

Henman 7-6 (7/3) 3-0 Blanco
This is Henman's best tennis - every facet of his game is firing. He spurns two more break points before winning his third thanks to Blanco's double fault.

Henman 7-6 (7/3) 2-0 Blanco
Blanco's confidence levels seem to have dropped in response to Henman's brilliant tennis. The Spaniard watches three aces speed past him and loses the game.

Henman 7-6 (7/3) 1-0 Blanco
Henman carries his inspired clay-court form into the second set, carving out the first break point of the match. He pulls off a sensational full-stretch pass to go further ahead.

First set:

Henman 7-6 (7/3) Blanco
Tie-break: An ace followed by a fantastic return win Henman the mini-break. A wild forehand gives the advantage back, but a chip-and-charge puts the Briton ahead again and a tenth ace set up three set points. Henman converts the first.

Henman 6-6 Blanco
A well-worked point wins Henman a slender advantage on Blanco's serve. He is then out-rallied by the wily Spaniard.

Henman 6-5 Blanco
Ace number eight powers Henman into the lead once again. An impartial French crowd is being treated to some high-quality tennis.

Henman 5-5 Blanco
Blanco is rising to this occasion and - worryingly for Henman - is finding his range on the forehand side.

Henman 5-4 Blanco
The Henman first serve is his biggest strength and his weakness at the moment. Another double fault puts him in peril, but an ace closes out a keenly-fought game.

Henman 4-4 Blanco
Henman gets to 15-30 on Blanco's serve, before the Spaniard takes control with two clever rallies. A loose volley from Henman costs him the game.

Henman 4-3 Blanco
A second double fault puts Henman under pressure, but two aces get the Briton back on track.

Henman 3-3 Blanco
Blanco looks composed on both flanks so Henman tries to unsettle the Spaniard by rushing the net. His tactic pays some dividends, but two misplaced drives concede the game.

Henman 3-2 Blanco
Henman concedes his first point on serve with a double fault and misses narrowly with a forehand to bring up deuce. A big serve bails him out of trouble.

Henman 2-2 Blanco
This is already developing into a fascinating contest of ground strokes, both players content to exchange booming forehands. When Henman charges the net, he is passed emphatically.

Henman 2-1 Blanco
Henman has won each of his first eight service points with a mixture of aces, volleys and ground strokes.

Henman 1-1 Blanco
The Spaniard answers confidently by winning his own serve, helped by one wild shot from Henman.

Henman 1-0 Blanco
A great start for Henman. The British number one opens with a pair of aces and closes out with two driven forehands.

Warm-up: On paper, ninth seed Tim Henman is a big favourite against unseeded Spaniard Galo Blanco. But the Briton has never reached the second week at Roland Garros and will have his work cut out for him against a slow-court specialist. Henman will serve first.
