Myskina takes Kremlin Cup title
Anastasia Myskina
Anastasia Myskina claimed her third title of the year with victory over Elena Dementieva at the Kremlin Cup.

The Russian repeated her French Open final win over compatriot Dementieva, racing to a 7-5 6-0 victory after taking a tight first set.

World number four Myskina proved too consistent from the back of the court and took advantage of some typically wayward serving from Dementieva.

Myskina has now won in Moscow, Paris and Doha in 2004.

"It was very hard to hold my nerve in the beginning but later I managed to calm down," said Myskina.

"It's great to win at home. I was motivated to win to prove to my home fans that I deserve my high ranking."

Myskina will move up to third in the rankings, and she believes the victory will help erase memories of her Olympic semi-final defeat to Justine Henin-Hardenne when leading 5-1 in the deciding set.

I'll seek a psychologist, anything I can find to help me beat her

"I'll probably never be able to forget that defeat but this win should definitely help," she said.

"It's been over a month now since the Olympics and time will also help me to heal my wounds."

Dementieva admitted she failed to put Myskina under enough pressure.

"It was very important today to win the first set," she said.

"I should have put pressure on her but I failed to do that and in the second set, I couldn't resist."

And Dementieva is determined to work on the weaknesses in her game.

"I'm prepared to do whatever it takes to overcome my nerves, my poor serve," she said.

"I'll seek a psychologist, anything I can find to help me beat her (Myskina)."

Myskina later added the doubles title to her singles crown, teaming up with Vera Zvonareva for a 6-3 4-6 6-2 win over top seeds Virginia Ruano Rascual and Paola Suarez.
