Jelena Dokic stumbled to her fourth straight defeat with a 6-4 6-1 loss to world number 103 Tatiana Perebiynis in the first round of the French Open. Perebiynis was playing in her second French Open, losing her only previous match last year.
Dokic, the 2002 French Open quarter-finalist who was seeded 24th, has not won a tour match since April.
Perebiynis next faces American teenager Ashley Harkleroad who beat Mariana Diaz-Oliva of Argentina.
